“As a professional classical pianist, I was suffering from upper body stress and fatigue. Rachel designed fitness sessions geared precisely for my needs and level of fitness. Over the course of a few months I noticed radical improvement not only in my core strength, but also in my upper back and arms. I was able to reach an entirely new level of fitness without ever overtaxing my muscles which might have compromised some of my musical performances. She is incredibly competent, knowledgeable, and inspiring. She made working out fun and enjoyable while also pushing me to my highest potential.”
“Rachel took me, a lopsided hunch-backed couch potato without any knowledge of functional movement, and taught me how to feel capable, strong, and knowledgeable about how to activate and coordinate my mind and body in and out of the gym. Through Rachel’s instruction, I finally understood what the term “self care” actually means, which I’ve now integrated into my daily yoga practice and have experienced transformative results – I owe this to her.”
With the Premier Program, you receive 4 private one-hour coaching calls. These are scheduled at your convenience and are to be used during your 10-weeks of support. It is recommended that you schedule these calls during your 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th weeks in the program, but this is not required.
In these sessions, we generally spend the first half of the call talking about how things are going for you, any questions you have, any obstacles that may be blocking you from progressing, and celebrating all successes no matter how small. The last half of the call is a personalized movement lesson chosen based on what we’ve talked about previously.
A huge benefit to the Premier Program being online is that you can do it anywhere you have internet access.
The movement lessons require that you have space large enough to lie long on the floor. The strength movements in the program are very effective without weight if you find yourself in a situation where you don’t have access to your kettlebells.
The Premier Program is open, rolling enrollment, meaning that if there is space, you can enroll at anytime. A max of 8 participants are accepted at one time.
You can reserve space by placing a deposit and scheduling a start date.
This is an intense program, but I understand full well that you can’t put life on hold. Things are going to happen that will distract you from the Program. An extra 2 weeks of support is provided because it’s possible that you might get behind in online modules. I want you to know that this is not just okay, it’s expected. It’s also a great opportunity to practice the mindset shifts you’re learning in the Program.
As with anything, you get out what you put in. You can do as little or as much of the various components of the program as you like. That being said, you need to have at least an hour per day to commit to the program.
This depends completely on you and your pain. I don’t encourage people to play through pain even if that means having to forgo some gigs. However, I do think it’s helpful to play a little bit through the program to see how your movement, mindset, and strength are improving, but it’s not necessary.
I totally understand. Many musicians are concerned about hurting themselves, especially their hands. And for that reason, they normally avoid strength training. This program is different. This program’s strength training intensity is far less than other types of programs because:
You ALWAYS have the option to do the strength training movements without weight. It’s totally possible to improve your pain without ever picking up a weight.
Yes! I have many non-musicians go through this program with much success. As one example, I had a forest firefighter in the program. We focused on the demands of her job in place of an instrument. She learned more about how to efficiently move wearing a rucksack, swing an ax, etc.
The beauty of the format of this program is that it is highly customizable to your life and your pursuits. I’m here to help you do what interests you better, with less pain, and more enjoyment.
We live in a society that asks a lot for very little, and quality suffers as a result. Quality of the process. Quality of intention. Quality of how we value our possessions, experience, and even ourselves. Investing in the Premier Program is investing in yourself. This is the first step in a highly transformative process of learning to value yourself more. Money invested in yourself always repays itself because you value the opportunity presented and this has rippling effects throughout your life. If I feel that you are a good fit for the program, then we will discuss the price of your investment on our initial phone interview. If you’re still in doubt about the investment price, I challenge you to calculate ALL the ways you are already paying for your pain and what the cost of your inaction is. How does your pain affect your work, relationships, and the entirety of your life?
Without even knowing your instrument, I can tell you definitively, “yes!” The Premier Program is instrument agnostic, meaning that it’s not set up to address any particular instrument. This is for a very good and important reason: you don’t need more of the movement patterns specific to your instrument, you need more generalized movement patterns. Creating better general movement and then strengthening it is the primary focus of this program. This is by far the best way to address chronic repetitive stress injuries and pain.
